GF updates 12.1.2010

Forgot about this place lol, anyways....

New month, many more posts and updates to the GF forum.

To start off this update, we have had some slowness in the past week and there were two problems with this. The first time was due to a MySQL error which was quickly fixed. then there was a second slow issue due to another account on the server that had some bad code on their MySQL which messed with the whole server and affected us. Both issues were quickly dealt with by our host.

Next, I am currently setting up a wiki (with media wiki software right on the GF server) which members will be free to mess with and write up pages of pretty much anything they want that relates to gaming or yourself. More on this in the future.

On a side note, don't forget that the Video game awards will air on spike tv on the 11th of December.

I know it's December, but sadly I don't think I will be putting up a Christmas theme for the forum. I would like to, but the good ones cost too much and the free ones are crappy. Maybe next year though.

I have added a neat little hook to the forum that blocks anyone from viewing a banned member's profile. This is further to cut back the pointless efforts of spammers and I get the last message if anyone views a ban profile :P

I have updated the media tag so that it embeds college humor and ign videos.

And currently we have a total of 48,859 posts and 644 members.

Will be offline tonight for server change

Tonight at 12a.m CST / 1pm (GMT+8) we will be offline for a host server change. For many of you this shouldn't cause a interruption and in the morning everything should be running fine.

If the forum don't load for you tomorrow you may need to do a clear browser cache or press ctrl + F5 for a hard refresh or a ipconfig /flushdns with your PC. If your not sure how that's done then give it a quick googling.

I'll be sending a email on this shortly and tomorrow morning with a confirm that all is working fine.

Live chat added

Due to user request, I have added a live chat box to the GF forums. You can find the link for it at the top of the navi bar and it's called "Chat room"

This is a free chatbox provided by addon chat and is made possible to be put on IPB by this guy. So I hope you enjoy it and I'll be sure to hang out the chatbox so hit me up for a convo or two. I don't believe the conversations are stored on this chatbox so if you close the window it's on you will lose your current conversation. If you would like to see this further expanded upon, I be happy to take donations to upgrade the chat box to do more, but it costs $80+ to do, so donate wisely.

TGS boards a go!

Well it's that time of year again and TGS 2010 has started! As always GF will bring you any big news there is under the TGS category (formerly World of Gaming). TGS started on September 16th and lasts until the 19th and the TGS boards will remain as is here on GF until the 22nd and then I will close them down for another year around the 25th.

Forum Arcade is running!

I am very happy to announce as the admin of this gaming forum that the forum finally has a running arcade! I like to thank the people of
IBPArcade
for getting a working version of ibProArcade working for IPB 3 and for their help for getting this arcade to run on this forum. I also like to thank NBK*Twitch of Admin central forums for giving me some help on the arcade as well as the arcade didn't want to work on this forum >_<

Now this is the newest ibproarcade out there and should work for all games so it is my goal to get over 300 working arcade games for this arcade before the end of this year. Now that means I am adding a lot of games and I will try to make sure they all work but if you find a game not working or the scoring isn't right for the game (as I am unable to check to see if the game is high or low scoring) please either send me a PM or make a posting in the GF's Arcade forum.

There is only about 11 games in the arcade right now but I assure you I will add more soon. Also I am looking for places that I can download free ibproarcade games from, drop me a link if you know a place.

Nothing more to say then to have fun my members!

Help GF gain money

Now there is a lot of mods and a few skins I like to add to the GF forum and website but sadly I don't got the money to do so. So with the help of froggyboy604 by pointing me towards linkshare I was able to start partnering up with online video game and electronic stores that if you click on their links and buy stuff if you see it or play games I should get some of the profits which I can use for GF.

I would be very grateful for anyone who dose this and if you click on a lot of them I will give that person a premium account here on the GF forum.

I am pleased to announce after many weeks of work and adjusting, the GF website is now open once again! The original reason why the website went down was so we could connect the databases of the website and forum together so if you register on one you would be registered on the other. Sadly that backed fired horribly and we had to completely scrap the website.
